Spring is upon us. It’s time to begin thinking about all the fun things to do outside before the brutal Texas summer temperatures roll in. Here are five of my favorites.
Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden
If I didn’t list this one, you’d be skeptical of all the rest of my list. It’s a must for anyone’s list this spring. Or, actually nearly any time of year. Once you’re there, the options for having fun expand and they will keep you there until it closes. Try the Children’s Adventure Garden and all the exhibits and events. Look over the full calendar and don’t miss the Dallas Blooms running through April 10. The Cool Thursdays Concert Series is always a popular event.
Klyde Warren Park
This incredible park is right downtown in the middle of Woodall Rodgers Freeway. Take a look at their things to do and you’ll find everything from music and stories with KidsWorks to zumba and yoga. They have a children’s park, dog park, and games area. One of my favorites are the food trucks that show up every day for lunch.
Nasher Sculpture Center
I absolutely love this place. In my work I remove walls and open up space for my clients so they can experience their dream home. Well, the Nasher is already opened up. There’s both indoor and outdoor exhibits that you’re going to just love. Check out their calendar and note their free admission First Saturdays for kids, including a project.
When was the last time you got out to the Dallas Zoo? Don’t wait until the heat of the summer to get there. It really is a treasure with birds and reptiles, tigers and lions, elephants and giraffes, and even LEGO® sculptures. They also have a children’s zoo with ponies and a discovery house and yard.
How about a Gondola Cruise with dinner and dessert? It’s available on the Mandalay Canal and Lake Carolyn in Las Colinas. This part of the Dallas area has been growing over the last few years. Spring is a great time to get out there, check it out, and take a gondola ride.
I hope you’ll get out this spring and try one or more of my favorites listed above. Or, if you come across some other great ideas, please do share in the comments below.
A Great Time to Remodel
Spring is also a good time to get started on your remodeling projects so you can enjoy the results in the summer. I recommend trying our Quickstart Worksheet to get started.
